augmented reality certainly has much importance in real life for entertainment as well as industrial applications. Virtual Reality is much satisfying when compared to AR for personal entertainment. Augmented may have more commercial applications such as google glass. You may like 'Virtual or Augmented - Which is your Device' https://goo.gl/78zkYj
I haven't encountered any AR or VR demo that could keep me entertained for more than 5 minutes. AR/VR probably has some uses in industry, but most applications are still vastly better on a regular 2D screen, both for visualisation and interaction. The only situations where I can see AR being useful is when performing an activity where you need to see real-time information but cannot use your hands to interact with the device, e.g. driving, surgery, rock climbing, professional road cycling, flying etc

Odd, I can waste several hours in VRchat and hours on end in games like To The Top :D
